About this tour

Just an hour from Thessaloniki, Mount Olympus and the ancient city of Dion combine history, mythology and nature in a single day.

First stop is Dion’s archaeological park, an outdoor museum that was once a whole city. Your tour leader shows you its different areas, the statues and the theatre with its remarkable acoustics, along with stories of the 12 gods and the civilisations that came and went.

Next is a hike through the dense forest of Olympus to the old cave of Agios Dionysios, near Prionia, where the saint lived as a hermit. The path is well kept and passes natural pools along the river, perfect for a dip in summer; the scenery is especially beautiful in spring and autumn.

The day ends in the village of Litochoro, with free time for lunch by the river and local dishes after a day of exploring.
