About Salty Soil
Salty Soil is a licensed Greek travel agency and destination management company (DMC), founded in 2021 by Akis (Apostolos) Kontoulis and based in Thessaloniki. We are licensed by the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), licence number 0933E60000837301. We design and run corporate events and team building, interactive city treasure hunts, AR outdoor escape games, guided day trips from Thessaloniki, food tours, and SUP expeditions across Greece. Events run at any scale, from private groups of two to corporate programmes with hundreds of participants, and every one is built around the group rather than sold off a shelf. We are a mobile company by design. Our base is Thessaloniki, but we bring our people and equipment to clients anywhere in the country, which is why so much of our work happens outside the city.
Akis has worked in hospitality, tourism and event management since 2006, in Greece and abroad. A degree in engineering came first; guiding and the outdoors turned out to be the real thing. That combination — operational discipline and genuine time spent in the places we take people — is what keeps our itineraries practical as well as memorable. Small groups. Local guides. Itineraries adjusted to the people on them. Boutique day trips run for up to 3 guests in our own VIP vehicles; larger groups travel by minivan seating up to 9, with hotel pick-up and drop-off included.
