Explore Mount Olympus & Dion: History & Nature Day Trip

Just an hour from Thessaloniki, Mount Olympus and the ancient city of Dion offer the perfect blend of history, mythology and nature in a single day.

First on the itinerary is a visit to Dion's archaeological park. This site is a true glimpse into the past, and the guide will take you through this outdoor museum of Dion, which is, in fact, an ancient city, highlighting the different areas and their uses, the ancient statues and the theatre with its impressive acoustics. You will feel like you are taking a hike through history as you explore the area and learn about Greek mythology, the 12 gods, and the centuries of civilisation that have come and gone.

After the visit to Dion's archaeological site, you will embark on a hike in the dense forest of Olympus to the Agia Kori little church and then to the nearby waterfall and the natural pools. The path is very well-preserved and the scenery there is truly breathtaking, especially during spring and autumn. This trail is truly fantastic and colourful. The hike is not well-known to most visitors and is definitely worth a visit. During the summertime, the natural pools are the perfect spot to take a refreshing dip and enjoy the beauty of the area. Alternatively, we can choose to hike on a longer trail at Agios Dionysios's old cave, located close to Prionia in another area of the mountain.

The day ends in the picturesque village of Litohoro (with very interesting stories to hear from your guide), where you will have free time to spend or have lunch in a beautiful setting by the river. This is a great opportunity to taste some delicious local dishes and relax after a day of exploring.

This tour is led by an experienced local guide who is fluent in both English and Greek and it is limited to small groups of up to 7 people. The trip lasts approximately 8 hours and includes transportation, hotel pick-up and drop-off.
