From Thessaloniki: Day Trip To Lake Kerkini

Discover the natural beauty of Lake Kerkini on a day trip from Thessaloniki. Explore the wetlands of the national park, taste local buffalo milk products, and enjoy a wine tasting at a local winery.

After being picked up from your hotel in Thessaloniki, drive for 1.5 hours through the beautiful landscape of the Serres agricultural area. Pass by olive groves and grapevines on one side of the road, and the mountains of Lailias and Belles on the other.

Reach the first stop of the day, Lake Kerkini. Meet the boatmen of the lake and embark on a boat tour of the wetlands of the Kerkini National Park. Learn about the area's diverse bird species and mammals, and the local community that benefits from the lake's protection.

Next, stop at a local pastry shop to taste some delicious products from buffalo's milk. We can continue to a winery (optional) in the Serres rural area, where you can take a guided tour of the facilities and learn about the wine production process.

Afterwards, we will return to Thessaloniki.
